I am a begginer on the mandolin and am not yet familliar with the form of notes,I know a little about reading abc format and would like some notes to get me started. Thank You.
If you are able to understand ABC then you might want to consider dowenloading TablEdit. Once you have it installed you can copy and paste the music from the tunes section here.
It's very straightforward and if you can't read music it will even provide you with tablature.
I shall now rush to the nearest fortified trench to avoid flak from the purists.
It cost me all of $25.00 to register it. It is very flexible and easy to use. It will translate abc text into notes and it will translate notes into abc text. It will also translate midi files into notes (and from there you can go to abc text).
I just love it.
Notes can be an important tool for a beginner, especially for a person who does not naturally have a good ear. It gives them something to start with as their ear develops.

Re: Looking For Some Notes
I don't play the mandolin, but a special person in my life does and he has mentioned finding tunes and info at:
www.mandolincafe.com
Not sure if you are familiar with the site but if not, check it out...perhaps will be something of use there for you?
