Re: Flute when your tierd

I usually have sex with stunningly gorgeous babes before I play the flute... as many times as possible. I usually try to have multiple partners if I can to give me that extra lift. Smoking a cigarette afterwards helps too.

Coffee. I'm having one right now. But I won't play a gig tonight. Just a neat little slow session to teach the newbies in town. But I'm tired anyway, having to go to university, to two jobs and to this very session today. Yes, I'm whining.

Porridge. Yes you may laugh but it releases energy slowly and it has the proven benefit if reducing 'the fear' next day (that feeling of having drunk too much and fearing facing the world). Not only that but your doctor will approve of the roughage, if not drink that produced the fear.

Simple. Get more sleep. If you are too unfit, take up some exercise. Don't drink, deffo don't smoke. Caffeine is only a sticking plaster. Eat good food. Or if you're not enjoying it give your playing a rest. Anyway, these snippets of advice are issued on here almost daily.

Re: Flute when your tierd

I'm afraid PB's suggestion followed by a cold glass of water would knock me out for about 12 hours, and ruin my dream life for the rest of my days.

My son was a music major (jazz performance with sax) and one of his professors always had everyone eat a banana before a performance. Never really understood it, who knows. Of course, as a flute player, you may want to brush your teeth afterwards. ;-)

Re: Flute when your tierd

Both porridge and bannanas are excellent slow release energy foods. However key's suggestions really hit the nail on the head.
I propose a regular consumption of sprouted grains, lentils, alfalfa, and sunflower seeds being the easiest to do your self. These are total power foods, filled with life. Also avoid junk food as much as you can.
White suger will give a burst of energy then you will come down with a thump. Avoid this crash landing by following with a slow release sugar source such as fruit, or avoid white death{sugar}itself as much as possible.
I also recomend a course of chelated multi-vit/minerals.
As a culture we are mostly deficient in these minerals and vitamins.
Also Drink plenty of water, most people[i gather] are chronically dehydrated.

Re: Flute when your tierd

I played a night-time gig recently with a couple friends who had just come off playing two other gigs earlier in the day. By the time they got to the evening gig, they were popping NoDoze pills all night. ~400 mg of caffeine per pill. It works. Too well, in a way. But it works.

Re: Flute when your tierd

Hey
I strongly recommend taking a whole bunch of drugs, getting naked, having painted yourself blue, and then follow the Phantom Buttons advice.
Never fails.
Dontcha love playing the flute!
