It's back at the Central Hotel this year. A bit more rough and ready but probably a better atmosphere and more conducive to late night sessions.
Unfortunately, everything starts really late. It's a pity there's no sessions during the day apart from the regular haunts eg Babbity's, Waxy's and so on. These usually tend to be busier than normal though.
Hi Johnny - I'm coming up on the 24th and staying until the 29th. I have tickets for the Festival Club every night I'm there and certainly intend to visit Babbity's on the Sunday. Are there any other sessions that I should be aware of?? I have searched the session section of the site but it's very confusing as to which ones are current.
So, hopefully, I'll get some response. I'd much rather daytime or evening sessions than those in The Club where there are too many other distractions...
Celtic Connections
Celtic Connections
I am thinking of going to Celtic Connections during the first week this year.
Does anyone have any suggestions of who to go see?

Re: Celtic Connections
i second the fest club.
luckily my mates worked there last year so i got in free most nights.
good laugh...feckin pricey at the bar though!
i suggest smuggling in a wee bottle to keep under the table.
hopefully my friends will still be working there for this one.
they are all a bit workshy though, so i wont count on it.

Re: Celtic Connections
Babbity's is on a Saturday, stacey, starts around 4 pm, I believe, and best to get there early.

Re: Celtic Connections
And Waxy's is a Sunday about 4pm too.
Probably Babbity's is a bit more accessible in terms of repertoire although both are friendly enough.
I believe the Friday Irish session (Used to be Vickky bar.. now elsewhere
) is postponed for the duration of the festival.
The Ben Nevis and Uisge Beatha are supposed to be very good but you're probably best to give the pubs a wee call to check

Re: Celtic Connections
Sadly, it appears that Waxy's might be cancelled too
