Filling in the event thing was too much like hard work, so I thought I would ask a question: What are peoples thoughts on the Brady/Irvine Celtic Connections classic album event? http://www.celticconnections.com/whatson/event/68451
Two musical geniuses back together doing what they do best, is it a good thing?
I have a friend who hates Paul Brady vehemently, and has said that he feels that Brady exploited Andy Irvine on this album and then cast him aside - if you read the blurb for the concert the writer seems to feel that the album actually showcased Irvine very well, and helped him start his solo career - so much for my friend's opinion then.
I don't hold with my friend at all on this, I just enjoy the album , and try not to pinch everything on it to put in my repertoire, that would be too too much.
And I'm really sorry that I can't be at the gig either, especially as I'm sure they'll do more than just the album. Can't someone get them done south too ?
Does anyone know whose house the photo on the back of the Irvine/Brady album was taken? The one depicting Andy with a hurdy gurdy on his lap. I was living in Dublin at the time this album was recorded and the room looks so familiar.

Re: Paul Brady and Andy Irvine
You're not sure if it's a good thing or not, then, Greebo?
I don't suppose we could stop them if it was a bad thing.

Re: Paul Brady and Andy Irvine
I suppose it could be a bad thing because I won't be able to be there and I'll be desperately jealous of those that will be.

Danny McKay: you'll be there for sure, right?

Re: Paul Brady and Andy Irvine
Greebo and grego?? Do you have a brother named Harpo?

Re: Paul Brady and Andy Irvine
Harpo is our sister, do you know her? Big hair, silly grin...that's the one!
I hope the Brady/Irvine thing lives up to expectations, pity it took so long.

I can't answer for my friend - I certainly don't agree with him on this.

Re: Paul Brady and Andy Irvine
I've an idea it might have been Diane Hamilton's, vanman, but the simplest thing would be to ask Andy himself - http://www.andyirvine.com/.
