FOR THE BEST IN TRADITIONAL IRISH MUSIC - PADDY RYAN ON SHANNONSIDE fm

Paddy Ryan presents a two hour programme of the very best in Traditional Irish Music on Shannonside FM every Saturday from 8 pm to 10 pm. Paddy features all the latest and upcoming Traditional musicians. His programme is a wonderful source of events happening in the traditional musical world and best of all his Archives section is really wonderful. Tune in for a listen some Saturday night.
Paddy is himself a lovely fiddle player and you can read about his involvement with the Killine Ceili Band on the Comhaltas webside.

Well said. A very good programme, presented by a very knowledgable and passionate man about Irish and some other forms of pure trad music. Long may it continue, and the Sunday night show shouldnt have been axed. there's too much country music on some local stations.
i'll say no more!!

I agree with all that's been said about Paddy Ryan who was also a great stalwart for traditional music on the other side of the water (Birmingham and such places) fadó, fadó. All local radio stations should look closely at Clare FM who put on two hours of traditional music each week night not to mention their "kitchen sessions" series at weekends. Audience research recently showed that these programmes were highly placed in the ratings!

I must agree totally with all the comments made already. Paddy Ryan is certainly very knowledgeable and we in Britain owe him a debt for the great work he did over here. As far as Clare FM is concerned, I think what they do for trad music is phenominal. I download their podcasts and listen to them when I get the chance. I spent a few days in hospital lately and these podcasts kept me going from morning to night non stop. They nearly made hospitable bearable. I think it would be a good idea for the other local stations to either podcast their programmes or at least archive them so they can be listened to at a later date.
