Those are the two that pop first into my mind as likely to be appreciated by the widest possible subsection of humanity while still qualifying as superb trad. I say this because there are a lot of songs, and the tunes are arranged uniquely enough to be different from one set to the next, the lack of which makes non-musician gift recipients often complain.
If I think of more I will let you know - every Christmas I try to match up the musical tastes of my family and friends with the CDs my musician friends are hawking and it always works out rather well - I'm giving twice!
Hi Ed
Ya i'm looking for "wilson rode my mam" by david ray-did you ever listen to it???
it would be more in your line if you gave me back my cd's????
where's my calico cd????
Not going -the only tux razor is used too in HVR is the tux crackers-who are they trying to fool!!!!!!
how was Ennis????
Any new cd's lately??? other than mine-I found your Andy morrow & Tony o Connell cd and your not getting it back......
do you want your dodgy DVD back -you can have that???
yours in music
Manus
by the way everyone-don't lend Saint any cd's -he does'nt give them back-i gave him all my cd's (250+) and i only got 13 back-i reckon he sold them all to buy the Joe Foley.....you've been warned-also he is murder after a few pints-keep an eye on your women when he is around.....plus he is useless at hillwalking-but i heard he is average on the box
thats was a copy of calicos two cds you gave me "goat". ennis was too busy on sat. so i bailed out and went to charlies sunday great tunes with seanie and clare.
I'll say Brian MacNamara is definitely the way to go - I've been listening to his solo stuff and his work with Tim Collins and it's really phenomenal to come back to over and over again.
Another suggestion for music from the Doyle family: Sean Doyle's "The Light and the Half Light". Songs with backing by John; I am particularly fond of the Flying Cloud track. Nice change from all diddley all the time.
Cd's for Christmas

Hi Kerri - shame this site won't allow the shortening of links, but do try http://tinyurl.com - your long Amazon link turns into this:

I wonder how they manage to make so many URLs so tiny??!

Re: Cd's for Christmas
You are supposed top copy the CDS Celtic 1234, that way you don't need them back.
