Re: Tacoma Mandolins

I tried one out a couple years ago and I liked it alot. I would have bought it if I didn't already have a Mid-Mo M2 but I was tempted just the same. I think it is a great instrument for that price.

Re: Tacoma Mandolins

You might want to do an archive search over at the mandolincafe.net Tacomas come up for discussion from time to time. Some people seem to really like them, most think they are well made and play well, most seem to think that they leave a lot to be desired in terms of volume and tone. a few folks went to far as to say they smell good.

For a flat top one soundhole mando, you can probably get a used Mid Missouri/Big Muddy for $400 that, in my opinion, would be a much better instrument and hold it's value.

Re: Tacoma Mandolins

I have a M2 Tacoma mandolin and love it. I've owned Mid-Missouri's, but personally found the Tacoma to be much nicer. Although a lovley instrument, I could never hear the Mid-Missouri at any session with more than a few people. I play with pretty heavy strings and a mega-thick pick too. Once I brought the Tacoma, it cut through clear and sweet.

I don't think you'll be disappointed Rob.
