No chance that I will have the opportunity, as they are not coming West of Ontario.

Re: Tapeire

It's got feckall to do with session music, but I'd be curious - certainly a matter of taste.

Re: Tapeire

Yeah, come on, this is hilarious!

[quote]

"...Devine was a champion Irish dancer who graduated to the lead in Michael Flatley's Lord of the Dance show. In one very funny sequence, he gets his revenge against the step-dance straitjacket. First, there is a projection of the bizarre rules of an actual Irish dance contest, such as those to do with wearing the proper underwear. Then Devine as the dancer, MacIsaac as the announcer and Jennings as the judge recreate the goings-on at a feis (an official Irish dance contest), which include performing to the exactitude of a metronome, hands held stiffly at the dancer's sides..."

Re: Tapeire

"In 1997, MacIsaac appeared on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, in a controversial performance during which one of his kick steps lifted his kilt high enough that his genitals were clearly visible to both the studio audience and the television cameras. MacIsaac stated that this was unintentional"

...That might explain the underwear fixation...

Re: Tapeire

I saw Ashley in concert with Mary Jane Lamond years ago and it was an energetic, fun show. Since then (1998? 99?) his albums and his reputation have gone downhill. I'm sorry to see that from such a talented fiddler. Hopefully this can help him redeem himself.

Re: Tapeire

hmmmm Tapdogs crossbred with Riverdance. Whats next, Irish fey and Priscilla Queen of the desert? Or should that be dessert.

It took me a few seconds to realise it was Tap-Eire as opposed to Tapeire (pronounced Tappyairy). Which could be (but isnt) an NZ placename.

Re: Tapeire

Just you wait until MC Shamrock and the Rock Steady Slainte Crew shock the world with their Irish Traditional Hip-Hop Breakdance routine.

Re: Tapeire

So, no one will admit to having seen the show? You could always say that you were taken by a hot date and didn't want to refuse.........

Re: Tapeire

Listen, I'm just happy I didn't see that Conan O'Brien episode. [shudder]

Re: Tapeire

Had the opportunity to see the dancer and the fiddler at work today promoting the show. Wouldn't be my cup of tea now, I'd much prefer Joe Neachtain dancing to Johnny Connolly but that's horses for courses. Joze, the NZ place name you're thinking of is Taitap... (Tie tap) which if said over and over again really fast...
