No vega is still going strong and after getting new strings while in ennis (custy music shop ) it sounds even better .(louder) No the banjo,s for a friend Des
I can heartily recommend Andy Perkins - http://www.andybanjo.com - based in Faversham in Kent, but very happy to discuss merits and demerits of his stock and mails very efficiently (postal strikes notwithstanding!). I've bought several banjos from Andy, upgrading a little each time as my budget has allowed, and have always been delighted with the "bang per buck".
We bought a banjo for our son for his18th birthday from Bernuzio in the US. Check out the web site www.bernuzio.com. Because the exchange rate was so good we got a fantastic deal and they are very helpful. It was about $100 to ship it and we had to pay £70 to customs for importing it, but it still worked out much better than if we bought one over here.
