Trad. and Modern Music

Trad. and Modern Music

I was just reading a recent thread about the similiarities between ITM and Baroque music, and it got me thinking about how much influence ITM might have on more contemporary styles of music, like jazz, pop, rock, blues or whatever else. What do you guys think about the relationship between styles of more 'modern' genres of music such as these (and any others) and our beloved tunes?

Also, it's been said a hundred times that the tradition has to keep changing to survive, and that ITM always is changing, but how much (or how little) of that change do you think is a direct result of these more contemporary styles???
Thanks,
Dan

See my profile ^^
It's my mission to introduce folk music to the broad public by the use of modern influences: folkpunk/folkmetal/folkrock ftw! :)
