Fluters of far East

Fluters of far East

Hi,I amd the Irish flute playing Japanese hatao, and
I recorded few sets with my flute mate Akio Kumamoto at
my house in 30 september 2007.

About us:
We live in Osaka and Kyoto area which are located in west of Japan.
We are both in our twenties, and have been playing Irish
music for about 4-6 years.
hatao is a professional player and studied with Eamonn Cotter,
Paul McGrattan,Harry Bladrey in the summer schools in Ireland.
Akio is a semi-professional and also have been to Ireland.

hatao's web site:
http://www.irishflute.info/

About the recording:
This project is a non-profit and just for our fun.
As a traditional session, we played with drinking beer and
recorded without any rehersal and over dubbing.
We used shure 58 and 57 microphones, and added reverb a bit.

About the tunes.
We selected our favourite repertory from Sligo and Roscommon area
and played in the way of what we think "Sligo and Roscommon style".
About the tune type,we selected not only reels and jigs, also recorded
hornpipe, fling, slide, march, polka, barndance as well because we love them!
We should have record slow air too !!

About the instlement:
 Akio Kumamoto:Patrick Olwell Keyless D flute、Shakuhachi(track05)
 hatao:Thomas Aebi 9key D flute

Re: Fluters of far East

Lovely, Hatao-san. You play some nice Leitrim tunes too. I'm an absolute amateur fluter in Kanagawa. Sorry for having missed you in Tokyo many times, but I hope to see you on the stage some time.

By the way, here's me playing northern tunes.

Hi ! I'm glad you found me in "the session".
We both are very fine and still struggling to be a

See you in Ireland (or Japan) soon.

Lovely!!
Regarding tune names - could your London Lasses have got mixed up with the Galway Rambler ?
