Seisiún na h-Éireann 2007 Cancelled due to lack of interest

The Seisiún na h-Éireann 2007 was due to take place for it's fourth year this September with musicians from all over the world set to arrive. However, organising committe chairperson Eileen Hassett confirmed this week.
"Each year the ffestival costs €20,000 to run and we need people to volunteer to help raise the money in a variety of ways. Unfortunately, this year, because of a number of factors, including a lack of resources and funding and a failure to secure a main sponsor , the festival will not take place. There's just not enough money in the pot."

Big laugh that isn't it? A 'festival' designed solely to bring drinkers into pubs and business into a town in general and then calling it ' a lack of interest' if there are no grants or sponsorships available. let the pub owners and B&B people cough up the money is what I think.

20,000 to put sessions in pubs for the weekend sounds outrageous, and that's all it appeared to be.
Funnily, Malachy's, who didn't participate in the official sessions, had the best craic!.

That's what we have planned for Derrygonnelly this year. Festival was 'cancelled' due to lack of interest so we 'uncancelled' it and a squad of us have booked ourselves in for the weekend.
For god's sake do we need sponsors to decide to have a rake of sessions? I think not!!
