LOL, Bannerman, I know many session musicians who do that chicken pecking thing with their heads--seems most common among bodhranistas and other backers for some reason.
What a hoot it would be to hear Jenny's Welcome to Charlie on a church organ!
I was in a session with an organ once. It was deadly - about 40 fiddles, 20 flutes, 5 PA's, loads of guitars, at least one bodhrán and a church organ, all playing John Ryan's Polka.
You would have loved it.
Wow. Thanks for posting that, slainte. My brother (a pianist and orchestral arranger) can type with his toes, and can also hum one tune while whistling another. This should be a snap for him! I've emailed him the link...will let you know if he buys it.

Tapping Feet
If you want to learn how to tap your feet while playing music, watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=olfxxNsubwI
Lovely dance music, isn't it? He's been one of my favourite musicians for more than 10 years. What if he plays Irish music?

Re: Tapping Feet
If he does learn Irish music I don't think we'd want to encourage him to bring that instrument along to a session. Come back PAs, all is forgiven!
As for the foot tapping, what about the head nodding? - this is something I've yet to see in a session situation.

Re: Tapping Feet
No, no, no!
I was thinking of just one organ playing a loping reel.
I'm not too fond of fiddle orchestras, let alone the rest of that racket.

Re: Tapping Feet
Playing John Ryan's Polka. Sheesh.

Re: Tapping Feet
I had the feeling he was looking for the foot brake.....I kept wanting to shout.. 'It's the fourth pedal from the right, you fool'

Re: Tapping Feet
Now you see you need to be a good step dancer to play Bach. Koopman could play Jenny's Welcome to Charlie just on the pedal while dancing to the tune.

Re: Tapping Feet
P.S. My brother also played church organ for years--I've seen him step dance to Bach many a time.
