I'm just back from a great week of music and fun in Tubbercurry, Co Sligo. First heard about it here on the Sessions and am I delighted I immediately booked accommodation.
Wasn't sure how my banjo playing would stand up so I took Sean Nós singing. Síle Linnane from Spiddle was the teacher and boy was she good. She's got a CD nearing completion and I recommend it.
Went to a banjo workshop by Tom Cussen and he sorted out my Vega Little Wonder in seconds... The lads who advised me to put on heavier strings where totally correct.
There was a tribute concert to flute player Peter Horan. Peter is aged 81 now and you wouldn't believe it by the way he can still play. He has teamed up with fiddler Gerry Harrington on a new CD called 'The Merry Love to Play' and I can't think of a more apt title.
