Just wanted to share some videos from my band (I play uilleann pipes and whistle) in the last gig we had in Mijas (Malaga), I hope you like them though the sound quality is not great...there's some old session vids aswell.
Thanks for putting your clips up on YouTube, it's always interesting to see what other players are doing, halfway across the world.
Comments? Good for you, for being brave, and getting up on that big stage. I'm sure many people in the audience enjoyed your playing. Sure, there were rough spots, but that's how it goes, with "Reality TV."
Curlew -
For a guy with no tunes in your tunebook you sound pretty harsh. I assume you must have a good setting for Drummond Castle? Please post it so we can get some of the subtleties.
I don't have any tunes in my tunebook either
Antonio - nice work there. What's that first tune? Well played, and rather interesting. No matter the monitor situation, it's always hard to figure out how to set up on a stage like that and keep enough proximity and eye contact to keep together. Good job carrying on regardless!
I enjoyed it - thanks for posting. A live performance is rarely note perfect - that goes with the territory. Some of the other clips you posted, of the Mijas festival and the Madigan's session were also good.
So we have what I presume is 4 Spanish guys who are into the music, practise the tunes, and have the cojones to get up on stage and play, and play pretty well. I say fair play to them. And then we have Curlew, who snipes from his armchair and tells them to keep "practicing" (should be practising, by the way). Maybe Curlew can post a video clip or sound recording of himself playing Drummond Castle so that we can all learn from the master.
Antonio - if you guys are ever over Nerja way, give us a shout and we can hook up.
We've been back to Ireland couple of times, always asked for you...u still in Japan, aren't you? We usually go to Cork now for music...we made lots of good friends there...yes, but I miss the craic and good fun we had in Dublin with u...
And by the way...of course we sounded better in anywere else than in the f*cking clips...the sound check and techs were crap so we didn't play comfortable at all...but u know the lights are so cool!! ¬¬ I have to post some videos of us playing at home...they're just definitely better...
Take care boy, let me know if you'r back in Ireland...I may go over there in october.

We will be just as hard as we like Antonio.
You murdered Drummond Castle (the second tune) other than that it was very average.
Keep practicing.

This brings back great memories of last years festival up at Mijas and the rocket fuel known as Asturian cider!
It's a stage in an open plaza in the hill town of Mijas overlooking the Costa del Sol and whatever you think of the bands, the atmosphere is great.

Hey Antonio--

So don't sweat the criticism. Talk is cheap.

reenactor--I think that first tune is Chloe's Passion, which I am just now learning myself (small world, eh?)
