It is refreshing to see that the greatest of all Irish traditions can be brought into the modern day with a fresh approach, without it losing any of its quaint Irish charm
"Riverdance" modern, come on, you are obviously too young to remember all those dance and swimming extravaganzas... 'Riverdance' was just another take on vaudeville novelty acts...which often included a bit of the Irish...
CAUSE FOR ALARM ~ I was afraid to click the link. So, is that you Alarum? I hope you don't go out in public dressed like that. I like your pet Leprechaun... Has he been sucking on the helium... None of the Leprechauns I know sound like that, or dress like a pimp...
Ah, I see. I'll have to check out Dundee Leprechauns then next time I'm in the neighbourhood. Hey, not a bad American accent for a Scot, but you couldn't fool me. I could hear that Glasgow drawl underneath it all...
Maybe you should forget about teaching and get a job on a childrens show with CBeeBees? No, come to think of it, maybe not... I want to hear your Alabama accent, that should be easier for a Glaswegian of your talents, shouldn't it?
I wish I had a Glasgow drawl. Sadly, due to moving when I was but a sprog of a mere 2 1/2 to the wilds of Knutsford I instead have a rather dreary Cheshire accent - whatever that is!
Maybe I should be Alabama Bound!
(Perhaps I should take this opportunity to stress to anyone reading this who might be slightly hard of thinking or "having a moment" I am not actually in this video. I auditioned, of course, but, as it was a Comhaltas gig they did a membership check and I was found to be lacking)

Re: Modern Day Riverdance
I looked at the discussion list and saw:
"Modern Day Riverdance - No Cause For Alarm"
Not a sentence that I would have thought up myself.

Re: Modern Day Riverdance
I think it is fair to say it wasn't 'invented' by Michael Flatley, so much as 'discovered'.

Also, the Russians & Eastern Europeans did it before Flatley...

Then you need to get out more Ceol! Around Dundee the Leprechauns might not be so plentiful but the ones we have sure can move!
