So I was n vacation with the family and family friends this week, and I happened to hear Tripping Up The Stairs coming from the TV. I looked up and saw the opening credits of Spongebob Squarepants (I knew there was a reason I liked the show!) I've never really paid attention to or noticed before...does anyone know if they play trad music often? I just assumed it was Drunken Sailor every time (the only other time I was watching the credits and recognized the tune).
Just throwing that out there, thought it was pretty interesting...
Confirmed hearings of Lannigan's Ball, Rickett's Hornpipe, Liverpool Hornpipe, Tripping up the Stairs, Britches Full of Stitches, plus some morris tunes.
I heard "Out On The Ocean" yesterday watching the show with my sons, aged seven and five.
I'm so glad someone reposted all those links. I had never thought of hitting the Discussion search with SpongeBob. All my fellow sessioners are older folks, their kids are all grown so they don't watch SpongeBob. They thought I was nuts when I was trying to tell them about all the Trad in the show.
Question is, where is the music recorded, and who is playing on the soundtrack? I've worked quite a bit in "Hollywood", and I know they always prefer to hire musicians and record the music themselves in order to have the rights to it, not have to pay royalties, etc. So in all likelyhood it's not music taken off of some albums somewhere, but music recorded in studio expressly for the show. But it sure sounds like actual Irish trad musicians, not Hollywood studio musicians faking it (though some of those guys are pretty good fakers).
I would guess that the music is recorded in the LA area.
Spongebob Squarepants?

Re: Spongebob Squarepants?
So, the question is, who is the trad fan who inserts these gems into the Square One's soundtracks?
