Help need Caddam Wood music for a funeral Tuesday 18 Feb 2003
Help! Please can anyone tell me where I can find sheet music for Caddam Wood, which I believe is a Scott Skinner melody. It was much loved by my friend's father. I have been asked to play it for a funeral next Tuesday. Or if someone could "tell me how it goes", I can improvise harmony. Many thanks

I'm sure you'll find it in one of Christine Martin's books - either one of the "Ceol Na Fidhle" volumes or "Session" tune books.
Most music shops have them, or you could try your local library.

I would love it if people would play up-beat tunes at my (hopefully later than sooner) funeral.....I would hate it if people were all teary, upset, etc.....hey!, it's life, it happens to everyone!....why not celebrate!
Note: probably the only optimistic thing I've ever said....creepy, isn't it. *shock*

Many thanks to the kind person who sent me the notation for Caddam Wood. I played it while people were leaving the church. The lady whose father died was very grateful that I played a selection of his favourite melodies.
It is quite a bouncy tune, isn't it? But there's a precedent - we played Scottish country dance tunes at my mother in law's funeral, a few years ago. She played for the Newcastle Branch of the RSCDS for many years, and it would have been impossible to have played anything more appropriate - it truly was a celebration of an old lady's life.
Thanks again for your help! Sorry I didn't post this sooner - we've had software upgrades at work and our server has been down intermittently.

The tune is now listed in the "tunes" section:

Judging by the up-tempo sound of the tune, it could be a fun funeral.
