On a parallel thread some abcusers are having a problem cutting & pasting abcs from one site to another.
I have not been able to recreate the error. Does anyone have an example?
In the thread abcs are copied from John Chambers collection & b pasted into Paul Schwartz's Tune-O-Tron.
Thanks.
Any examples . . .
A cut & paste of an abc file that has a faulty printout?
A link to a file which does not printout on the Tune-O-Tron?
I have not been able to recreate the problem personally.
Cheers.
Sometimes an abc looks "double-spaced" (i.e., blank lines between the lines of code) and won't convert unless I backspace to delete the extra line breaks.
But it is helpful to include links to specific items you are talking about, so others can test them.
Here is the original thread (usurped by me). Apologies! http://www.thesession.org/discussions/display/13979
The issue is Tune-O-Tron creates a
'rogue 1st line' in the PDF score.
Still hoping to get a file example, with the alleged rogue,
to paste into Tune-O-Tron.
Thanks for the comment mickray.
Editing abc text . . . spacing, line-breaks, etc. is always important.
Especially in going from one program to another.
Oh well, at least I can still whinge about the fact that you can't print out more than one tune on a page, without having to do stupid stuff like take headers out. That's really stupid and frustrating etc etc.
Of course I've moaned about this time and time again, but nobody ever does anything. Nothing can ever just work properly, can it? It's like cars. Something always has to be going wrong and costing you time and money and emotional effort. God everything's so hopeless.
Computers? You know the thing that annoys me most about computers is that they're completely unpredictable. Even people who do programming and can take computers apart and put them back together again - chip by chip, screw by screw - even those people are sometimes baffled by them and get frustrated. So how do they expect me to be able to cope with them? You know what annoys me? It's the stupid error message that pops up every time I boot up the bloody thing. I don't understand it. I don't understand why it's there. I don't understand how to fix it. It's just there, and it won't do anything horrible to me apart from appear all the time and annoy me by its presence. Then there's the stupid way my computer crashes when you try and make it go too fast. The whole thing just freezes, and even ctrl-alt-del won't work. Sometimes computers just randomly decide to react differently for no apparent reason, like you boot up something one day and it works fine, and then you do exactly the same thing the next day, and it won't load up, and just displays an error message like "cannot find file blahblahblah.exe" or whatever, and you just want to grab the bloody thing and smash it to pieces. I hate my computer.
That is hard to top Dow. This will be anti climatic.
Here's another workaround. It may even work on smashed
computers.
The F: line caused all this trouble. There is one more way to resolve the problem. Here are all 3 I can think of.
1) Delete entire F: line
2)Change F: to S:
3)Add % at start of F: line

Why the separate thread?

Re: Concertina Tune-O-Tron
Thanks Dow. I copied & pasted your example into the Tune-O-Tron & still got a perfect printout. Anymore examples?

What "example"? Sorry, I dunno what you're talking about.

Oh, you were being sarcastic. Sorry, I don't get sarcasm as I never use it myself.

I just gave you one, didn't I?

"I have not been able to recreate the problem personally."
Why would you want to create a problem you haven't got?
It's like giving yourself a disease for the hell of it, just to see what it feels like...

Too late. I think Paul is free tonight for the F: problem
But you could always take up a hobby like jazz.
