Fine. Loud enough if you play it properly Easy enough to get in tune if your session isn't too far from 440Hz. May need some adjustment of thread wrapping on joint if played for a prolonged period due to swelling. Check from time to time that the Tenon joint is not getting too tight and adjust as necessary. Lots of grease (Vaseline) can help to prevent the threads swelling. This would still be a problem on any thread wrapped joint - I just get a bit nervous because the headjoint has no ring to support the wood around the socket on this flute.
Oh! and make sure the flute is well broken in before playing it for four hours non stop in a session...

How do these folk flutes hold up in a session?

Re: Casey Burns Folk Flute
What a relief! I thought, by the name of the thread, the practice of destroying instruments at the end of a session crept into Irish music!
