a couple slip jigs...

a couple slip jigs...

My band, athas, just posted a new set of slip jigs on our myspace profile: Silver Slipper/Dusty Miller/Snowy Path. We turned down things a few steps tonality-wise and recorded this on viola, low g whistle, and bodhran ;) Check it out and let us know what you think. Oh, and add us as a friend if we don't scare you away :-D

The Silver Slipper is new to me,but I've always liked the other two and they were well played.

Re: a couple slip jigs...

It's interesting to hear The Silver Slipper played at that speed.. It is usually played at Johnny Doherty speed, as more of a hop-jig ('The Silver Hopper'?)

Re: a couple slip jigs...

thanks for the compliments, everyone!

dafydd: as a guitar player, i can only count to two, which is why Amy and Heather made me play whistle for this set :)

spoon: yeah, the only source I had heard "Silver Slipper" from before was Matt Molloy, who plays it as a hop-jig. i think the altan version is more of slip jig setting, no?
