The Rough Guide to Irish Music - last copies available
The Rough Guide to Irish Music - last copies available
As the major co-author of 'The Rough to Irish Music' I've recently received some 25 pristine copies of the book as the RG is clearing office space in its palacial Strand HQ.
I've put them up for sale on Amazon where some crazed sellers reckon that they can get almost £40 a copy. My copies are on offer at £8 - apologies if that seems excessive, but Amazon takes £0.86 from every transaction, plus 17.5% of the proceeds.
Re: The Rough Guide to Irish Music - last copies available
Thanks, Danny,
Don't worry about your review as I've been spending an age trying to re-vamp the http://www.irishmusicreview.com site. The final results should be on-line shortly.
If anyone wants to circumvent Amazon and pay me directly (and thus donate more money to the Alzheimer's Society), then please send me a PM.
Re: The Rough Guide to Irish Music - last copies available
Got one! Pity I didn't see your post about direct contact with you!
Looking forward to getting it. Hope it a little like 'The Art of Course Rugby' shich still gives me achuckle!
Re: The Rough Guide to Irish Music - last copies available
I always take mine to the pub as I'm usually the first to arrive for the session. Yep, great book, and you've guided me to a good number of brilliant CDs you don't normally see on Cornish record shop shelves!
Re: The Rough Guide to Irish Music - last copies available
Ceolachan - thanks for buying the book, but I think my signature would have diminished its value.
John B - I think you meant 'The Art of Coarse Rugby' - long live Bagford Vipers!
Sugarfoot Jack - sorry, but there's no chance of a 2nd edition. Rough Guides never promoted the book adequately and, subsequently, ditched the format. However, there will be a major new book on ITM published in Ireland in the autumn of 2008 (my lips must remain sealed).
Steve - you could always buy a second copy, hollow it out and use it as a harmonica case.

Excellent book Geoff, and one I turn to frequently.
Any chance a new edition is in the works given the constant changes in ITM?

Re: The Rough Guide to Irish Music - last copies available
Only 8 copies still left, if anyone's interested.
Bear in mind that there won't be any more as all other copies owned by the publisher have been pulped.
