flute friendly D dorian tunes?

flute friendly D dorian tunes?

Can anyone suggest flute friendly tunes in D dorian that might come up in a session? Seems like fiddlers love the key!

Thanks,

Re: flute friendly D dorian tunes?

You could always buy a C flute and play the fingering for E dorian. If you did that, flexibility would give you the oppurtunity to play great tunes like:

Most will probably be managable in D dor on a D flute as F natural might not frequent the tune too much.

Toss the feathers. Play both versions in D.

So far, nobody answered the original question. I'll try to help you.

Well, the second part of TF#3 is in Dmix, but it definitely has D dorian feel.

This is just my personal opinion, but why do you have to buy a C flute to play a small number of good D dorian tunes? I'd rather sit back and listen to others playing them.

Re: flute friendly D dorian tunes?

Thanks all for the ideas. I'll have a go at Toss the Feathers, seems like that may be the most popular of the tunes mentioned?
