Just to let you know a group of Brian Rooney's friends are organising a massive trad concert in Brian's native Co Leitrim on Friday 29th June to raise funds for Brian who has been off work for some months and is likely to be for quite a while due to a serious illness. Fiddle player, Brian Rooney has been living in London for many years and came to the notice of the wider trad community on the release of his wonderful debut Album 'The Godfather'.
The concert will take place in the Community Centre, Manorhamilton and will highlight the music from Co Leitrim. Tickets are €10 and can be obtained from myself Gregory Daly (086 3456193) or Jim Connolly (087 6883378). Alternatively if you wish to make a donation this can be done through my website www.johncartymusic.com on the news page.
Let's all hope that Brian gets through this, just been informed that Brian has cancer.
As someoneone has been through this myself five years ago I would say that it is important you keep your spirit up, let all your friends know so that we can all be thinking and wishing for your recovery.
