Hi - does anyone know where to find out more info about this mysterious and wonderful composer? I am looking for more than just the common tunes that he is known for. Biography, tune collection, etc. Thanks...
Re: Paddy Fahy's tune 'The Funny Reel' - when Paddy Fahy played it for Joe Burke for whom he'd composed it, he did so with the words 'It's a funny kind of an ole thing and you might make something out of it".
Liz and Yvonne Kane, from Letterfrack, Co. Galway, recently released a cd, which included alot of Paddy Fahy tunes. I'm not sure if they were actually taught by Paddy, but I know they were influenced alot by his playing. Hope that helps.
Has Mr. Fahey ever made any recordings himself? I heard a rumour last summer that he had just released, or was about to release his first CD. Then I noticed recently, in the sleeve notes to Kathleen Collins' album, Traditional Irish Music on Fiddle, Paddy Fahey is cited among her major influences. I goes on to mention that he had an album due for imminent release on the same label (Shanachie) - this would have been sometime in the mid-70s.

He's written some great tunes with actual names. I'll post them here when I get a minute to transcribe them...
