congrats to everyone who competed! it was a blast... music everywhere, great tunes, wonderful musicians. there were also some people who came and did not compete, just came for the craic of it... they were the smart ones, :P.
all the volunteers were wonderfully friendly and helpful. its so nice to see so many people works so hard to make stuff like this happen.
the judges i saw were nice and offered very helpful criticisms. some even read off complicated feedback for all their dozens of performers; i dont envy their jobs!
i also met a wonderful fiddler from california that happens to be a lurker here. no posts and he's been reading for ages! lets see if we can smoke him out...
I also thought they fleadh was great, I was one of those people that didn't compete, but had a great time sessioning until dawn. I look forward to next year, I think it is supposed to be in Detriot?
Yeah I thought the fleadh was great. i really enjoyed the adult ceili bands. wasnt the fleadh supposed to be in chicago the next two years? what happened with that?
I had never been to anything like a fleadh before, and i'm glad i came. there were so many great musicians, i only wish i would have seen more of the non-fiddle competitions. everyone i met and played music with were great players, and nice people, especially daiv! he helped me decide to take up the concertina, so you can all blame him!
it was a wonderful learning experience and great celebration of the most beautiful music.
p.s. you smoked me out daiv, this is my first post after years of membership :D
blake--haha, i'll take the blame! i didnt realize i was so persuasive, :P.
flute86--i shouldve stayed up later! if i had known my train would be 6 hours late, i couldve stayed up til down and listened to everybody some more.
striving--the ceili bands were really fun. who knows about chicago (that would be nice... just a hop skip and a jump for me). i dont know if we met... it says in your profile that you're with the riley school of music. i hung out a bit with the members of the your ceili band (i know tim). i was the concertina player. did i run into you?

Yep, D-town next year... great for me, as I'll have to drive thirty minutes instead of 8 hours.

Re: fleadh in st. louis
I know that the fleadh is for sure in Detroit next year. I think the Detroit branch was the one most willing and prepared to take it.
