I'm sorry, I meant by ear... as in recordings of tunes, and not midi.

www.tradlessons.com for great tunes played normal speed once then slowly once. You can also email Michael, whose site it is, and request that he post a particular tune. I asked if he could post two tunes recently and they were on the site within a few days.

It might be worth creating some new categories in the Links section of TheSession to bring the various sources together:

. recordings of tunes for free download
. videos of tunes for free download

There are some great recordings and videos for free on the web that bring to life the 'bare bones' of tunes we only have in abc, midi & sheet music via thesession.org

youtube also has a massive array of tunes from all kinds of sources - some recordings of professional musicians, others amateurs.

The only difficulty is that it is tricky to just browse for trad music. Knowing tune names helps a lot.

This is a pretty good site, it plays all kinds of tunes fast so you can here the way it's supposed to sound and then slow so you can figure out the tricky bits. I don't use it that much to be honest, I'm not sure why not though .
