Re: RIP Michael Shorrock

This is very sad news. He featured on one of my all time favourite albums "Across the Pond". He will be sadly missed. R.I.P

Re: RIP Michael Shorrock

Mikey was a great bouzouki player, music lover, and an all-round lovely guy to be around. He was a cornerstone in New England's ITM community, and had made a number of great recordings:

The Maple Leaf: http://cdbaby.com/cd/nsmd
All Hands Around: http://celticgrooves.homestead.com/CG_All_Hands_Around.html

We will all miss him.

Re: RIP Michael Shorrock

Georgi, I am so sorry to hear that, and grieve at Kathleen's loss. I only met him on a couple of occasions, but he was a wonderful man, and will be missed.

Re: RIP Michael Shorrock

I never met him, but everyone I talk to says he was a nice guy. My friend Michael Reynolds says he was a great man. My music teacher Jimmy Noonan says he was great. He made the Maple Leaf album with him. He will be sorely missed.

Re: RIP Michael Shorrock

Just came back from hearing Tommy Peoples at Jimmy Devine's, and Pat Hutchinson said a few for Michael Shorrock. Then Tommy played a setting of Hector the Hero that absolutely ripped me in half. Amazing and sorrowful.

Re: RIP Michael Shorrock

This is very sad news indeed. I met him a number of times both here and in Doolin. He had a great sense of humor and was a terrific musician. We hadn't crossed paths in a number of months but oddly enough I was telling a friend of mine a Michael Shorrock story just the other day. My condolences to Kathleen and the Shorrock family.

Brian O'Donovan just mentioned Michael's passing at the top of his show and indicated he will be playing some of his music on this week's edition of A Celtic Sojourn on WGBH in Boston.

Re: RIP Michael Shorrock

Jocelyn and I were deeply saddened when we heard the news from a mutual friend. Our hearts go out to Kathleen and all those who will dearly miss Michael.
Farewell old friend, you'll live on in our memory and in the music we cherish.

Re: RIP Michael Shorrock

Damn, I'm behind in my news reading, so thanks for posting this, George.
Kathleen and Michael had been coming up these last few years to the Boston College St. Patrick's Day party, and they definitely made the occasion a highly enjoyable one.
If anyone here sees Kathleen, tell her a whole bunch of people at BC wish her and the family our very best.
