I have just obtained a tenor banjo, 19 frets, and I was wondering if anyone has some advice on what type/brand of strings would be best for Irish tuning GDAE.
I play mandolin so I wanted to keep it as simple as possible.
This has been covered many times in thses discussions (so put the term banjo strings in the search box) , but basically you use the same strings as on your mandolin, then you go up and down on the gages until your banjo sounds its best.

Re: Irish Tenor Banjo Strings
GHS has an extra heavy gauge custom set, but I recently tried out the Irish set by D'Addario and they work just fine.
