May 1st the US television show "Today" featured a visit to Ireland by their anchor Matt Lauer. They showed him riding a tour bus in Galway with a trad band he called the "Lennon Quintet". I believe they were playing "The Bucks of Oranmore". Any ideas who were in the band?
Looks lovely, I guess this global warming has something going for it., the American guy is a bit smarmy tho. Don't know the tune but then it doesn't really ring my bell so that might be why.
Rapidity of travel is the key to that Today show (American morning TV show mixing current affairs with pop culture and trends) series called Where in the World is Matt Lauer. So time is of the essence in placing him in national locales. He was in Seattle Washington, the day before and Bhutan the day after so no time for a scenic drive up the Atlantic coastline and around Galway Bay.
It was kind of ironic that they managed to open the segment with some dramatic helicopter shots around the Cliffs of Moher and that he touched down there without showing the brand new --and somewhat controversial -- Visitors Center there. As they say, you can lead an anchor to the water but you can't make him drink it.....

That's probably Maurice Lennon (Stockton's Wing) and his new band with Martin Tourish and Luke Ward. (Yes, they're actually a trio, I think).
