"The Mighty Craic" - is it definitely dead now?

"The Mighty Craic" - is it definitely dead now?

For newer members info, don't worry, this isn't another whinge about the great old times we used to have but are no more (not this time anyway), but a query about what has happened to a site called "The Mighty Craic" hosted by one of the members here which had soundclips submitted by various members of them playing.

Has it now gone forever, or will it make a comeback?

Anyone know?

There was some fine playing on it.

Thanks Mikk - obviously no-one else has the time or webspace to spare (incl. me!) Any takers?

I think YouTube is the way to go. It's free, and you get to see the person playing as well as hear them.

You should put your session up on YouTube, Danny. If we're lucky, there might be a Jerry Springer style fight where someone beats you to a pulp and throws you into the path of a passing 4WD on the Stanstead Road. That'd be very entertaining.

Dow its hard enough doing an audio recording without having to worry about video as well. Myspace allows you to post up to 4 recordings (mp3) - a bit simpler if you ask me

Re: "The Mighty Craic" - is it definitely dead now?

But Donough, we live in a visual world. Somehow Danny being beat up and thrown into the path of a passing 4WD on the Stanstead Road isn't a full experience if all we hear are "WHACK!" ~ "SMASH!" ~ "THUMP, THUMP THUMP!" ~ "WHOOSH!" ~ "THWAP!"

There's got to be blood and gore...

Re: "The Mighty Craic" - is it definitely dead now?

Danny - I think my EzFolk site has unlimited webspace, and allows streaming or downloading of MP3s as well as providing an in-situ player facility. Unfortunately they've changed the look and feel of the site so I find it a bit annoying to navigate at the moment, but we can certainly give it a go. Trouble is, everyone will need to send me their MP3s again - unless Mr Dorans is listening...

I've only put two tracks up so far (moving house in the near future), but it can include a photo for each track so I can fill in all the info that Jim had on his site. You have to click the 'I' button to get the info on the tune.

I looked at MySpace, but the hourly download limit made it impractical. This site doesn't seem to have those limitations.

Oh, and you can even put videos up for those Jerry Springer moments. ;-)

Re: "The Mighty Might and May have Beans

well after all the bloody trouble i went to sending in my meagre scrapings on that thing i'm not doing it again so there.

and especially since a lot of posty people on this site did n't seem all that up for baring their feisty souls when it i came to it.

AND i sent in my best profile pic too...yes,i DO have a best profile i'll have you know...

AND so i won't be doing that again in a hurry!

Re: "The Mighty Craic" - is it definitely dead now?

I'll email Jim via this site to see if he can part with the clips. He hasn't, to the best of my knowledge, been on here for some time so is probably unaware of your offer, bc _B_P. For which, BTW, thanks very much. Nice playing on the clips, BTW.

Hey biggus, we've had several keane-free evenings of late at the BHT so feel free to bare your feisty soul there if you have the time :-) As for my clip, I was lucky enough to be following Kane and Christian in a couple of sets, so despite the poor recording quality they made me sound better than in reality.

Damn- so all this means you won't be able to see my virtuoso perfrmance of 'Bobby Shaftoe' after all- months of practice wasted.
