G,D,A,E Chords up the fretboard.

G,D,A,E Chords up the fretboard.

I am a new member to the sessions and am astounded by the help available - I am going to spend the evening trying to get to grips with Audiocity. And maybe play some of my favourites much more slowly and play along with them.
Can I dare ask is there a resource for finding chords up the fretboard - I am a handy picker of tunes but would love to be able to back other players.
I have started a Fun Trad Club in my college open to all comers - it's early days yet but I'd love to spend the final weeks of the academic year to lay the foundations for starting the club in earnest with next year's intake. (my college is in Cork City www.csn.ie)
Thanks for any help
John

Should have said 'Audacity'.

http://4stringchords.com/
this should help, just click on either banjo or mandolin.

Re: G,D,A,E Chords up the fretboard.

Just remember, if you're playing (tenor) mandola ( the "tenor" is superfluous, it's merely comparing it to the tenor banjo ), it's a 5th down from mandolin, or a 4th up from "octave" mandola/bouzouki.
By the way, John, loved that "OO7" theme !

More like the 'Up and Under' as in Barry John

Re: G,D,A,E Chords up the fretboard.

Thanks Mudflat,
Went there, Just back, head buzzing - why didn't ;I go to those theory classes 50 years ago (almost) 5ths, 7ths, 9ths amazing but also a great resourse.
the Cafe + BBCs virtual session + audacity (when I get the hang of it) will be a great help - major strides about to be made!
Thanks again

Re: G,D,A,E Chords up the fretboard.

You might try the banjolin site, they have a wealth of info on chords and other stuff.

Hope it helps

Re: G,D,A,E Chords up the fretboard.

Han Spek has made this chord chart for OM's and bouzoukis:

Re: G,D,A,E Chords up the fretboard.

Sorry, it's Han Speek and not 'Spek'. His bouzouki-page is worth a look:

By the way: it's not always just to adapt mandolin chords to an Octave Mandola or Zouk. Due to the different string length you'll probably choose different finger settings.
You're also more likely to play up the fretboard on an OM end even more on a Zouk (compared to the mandolin).
