I soo can't believe that nobody recognised this momentous event of a fellow sessioner and great guy!! He turned another year on the 20th April!!!! Tunes, etc. will be had to mark the event tonight, Saturday 21 April at 7pm at bb and ciansdad's house in Sydney. Come one come all. I'll leave it to you to guess his actual age
Oh my holy oaks omnibus!!!! I think he kept it a secret to trying and keep up his persona as a YOUTHFUL prankster! Either that or the dementia is making him forgetting these things. It's tough when they get to that age .
Happy birthday you beautiful man. See you for a might tune or ten tonight.
i.e. If you want to see another fifty, perhaps it's time you gave up the drink & start into those steaming pints of Milk!
Mind you, rumour has it, you already look like Yukichi, so goodness only knows what you'll look like in another fifty!
N.B. They're banning smoke from our pubs here, from next weekend. Who knows, maybe they'll ban alcohol next & we'll all live to be 100!
Fine quote Conan! How are things? Birthday boy hasn't even had a drink yet and is still at work!! We've started without him though. Like good friends would
Why isn't anyone giving out with his actual age? I am already feeling sorry for him, suspecting how out of it he'll be when things roll to a close tonight. He won't be rolling. Listen Sydney gang, those that will be there around him, please promise me you'll carry him out and see him safely home, and his instruments. The last time he was really sick drunk he came too damned close to losing his instrument, or damaging it. So, I'm depending on those of you few who will still have your senses at the end to take care of the lad. He is getting on now, another year older...
"Let's not have a sniffle,
Let's have a bloody good cry,
And always remember, the longer you live,
The sooner you bloody well die"
Just thought I'd add a bit of cheer to balance the previous gloom...
Thanks Nicholas, it was a cut and paste, my only Latin is what makes up a sizeable portion of Cymraeg / Welsh... I always wanted to take it when I was a sprat, and Greek, and I dabbled in different glyphs ~ the graphic nature of my madness, but I never got those wishes met... I haven't given up yet though. I did at one time have the gift of talking about fish and fishing and swearing in Chamorran...
I've outsurvived everybody. It's 8.50am and everybody else has passed out. I'm still up for going out!
Ciansdad and I passed out for a while on the concrete outside their house, watching the wattlebirds feed at the bottlebrush plants over our heads, and feeling the warmth of the rising Australian sun, and feeling sorry for all the people in the UK who never get any sun, knowing that it will probably be drab and grey and drizzly over there.
I seem to have mislaid my concertina. I think I put it in the boot of my car, but my car's not here. I think it's in another suburb of Sydney...
Ach I'll find them tomorrow. Right now I have to sleep...
No need to feel sorry for us Dow, unless of course you'd be thinking of the poor marathon runners in tomorrow am's London. They'll be cooking in the balmy April morning sun at 23 deg C all the way along the Embankment. I won't be joining them.
Glad to hear you're still alive. I need someone to slag here.
Damn you Mark, you haven't misplaced your geographic positioning device again have you... By the way, every day in Austria was sunny, and we returned to sun here on this isle, which was sunny again today, in a nice, light breezy sort of way. But we were thinking of you birthday boy, and the impending visit of Hiroyuki... Pleasant dreams, the fairies will look after you tina for you. I asked them to pass the word down to their lot in Oz. I just hope it didn't get into the hands of any concertina eating demons... Happy Belated Birthday, this time, as I second guessed it a couple of weeks earlier... Back to that over-proof Austrian rum, a toast to you and your mates ~ skoal!
I worry for the marathon runners in London Key. Whenever I've been there and it has been warm and sunny the air quality has been so poor that even a short dash leaves me chest tight and coughing... You are wise to stay away...
An all nighter again, keeping the standard of celebration up there with what was experienced at the national!
HAHAHA - sounds like a great party, i wish i went! Rather predictable behaviour from Ciansdad to pass out in an unconventional place. It would have been cold out the front too!
At 10:00 in the morning now im sure you are all in deep sleep
Actually, Dow you make it sound so beautiful. It was a gorgeous evening and the wee one has us all up for the next round. Sorry I couldn't bring it further than the sidewalk
I hope the neighbours are ok as they had a bit of a go at our noise and revelling. I blame it all on the man of honour See you tomorrow Dowsy, your car is out front, don't know what you did with your other belongings
I had considered "The All Night p*ss-Up" as a title. This one is tentative and if you can come up with a title that makes you and others smile, the possibilities remain open... Yes, I was actually thinking of you, while doing Spring cleaning, dust in quantity, and found myself possessed by the A-part, the B-part followed, and in keeping with the subject, you, only one measure out of 32 can be considered 'agreeable'...
Dow's Birthday

Hocine bibo aut in eum digitos insero?

Re: Dow's Birthday
I've got the first line:
"In ancient times, babies like you were exposed on the windiest crags to die!"
I'm not sure about the second:
"Do I drink this, or insert (my) fingers into him? "
But whatever the true translation, it can be taken as read that the Romans were quite a peculiar lot.

Yup! "Do I drink this or insert my finger in it!"
~ In the company of 'strangers'...

Re: Dow's Birthday
ceol - "hoc" is neuter; "eum" is masculine.
(That doesn't necessarily mean a person, but has to be something other than what is denoted by "hoc".)
You meant, "Hocine bibo, aut in *id* digitos insero"...!
