Seisuins in Galway, Clare and Mayo in May

Seisuins in Galway, Clare and Mayo in May

The lovely Erin and I will be in the west of Ireland (Galway, Clare and Mayo) from May 8 through the 23rd. We are looking for pubs that offer live music nightly. Any and all information is appreciated. Thanks.

Mayo. Westport obviously Molloys, but more comfortable in Hoban's or somewhere like that. Louisburgh, Bunowen on Sunday, O'Duffys on Saturday, and usually a few others.
I didn't know there was music in Clare.

I had heard rumours of there having been music in Clare once upon a time.

The Fleadh Nua will be on in Ennis (Clare) towards the end of May so head there for some music.

Paddy's right but unfortunately, unless you can extend your stay by another 3 or 4 days, you'll miss most of Fleadh Nua. as the high point will be the weekend from Thursday, 24th May onwards. However, you'll still be able to pick up some of the craic as the launch day is Sunday, 20th May in Miltown Malbay where the Lachtain Naofa CD will also be launched and this will be followed by music in the town pubs.

The next day, Monday, sees activities move to Ennis with free lunchtime traditional concerts in the Council office all week. For sesssion players wanting to increase their tunes repertoire there will be workshops each day from 4.00 to 5.30PM. Also, in addition to the many nightly sessions normally taking place in Ennis there will be designated Fleadh Club sessions. More information is, or will shortly become available at http://comhaltas.ie/events/detail/fleadh_nua_2007/ and also at http://www.fleadhnua.com/.

A pity you're not landing a couple of days earlier. The Cuckoo Fleadh is on from the 4th to the 7th and would be highly recommended for immediate all-day immersion in some top-class music. Multiple sessions at nearly a dozen locations in the town.

Here's a link to last year's programme. This year's isn't up yet.

You got to love the organisation though , although we were not asked or told about it I see on the website we're on the Celebrity concert.

There's daily (from 5 PM) ITM in Tig Coiligh and The Quays in Galway (and some others). You won't be able to miss it.

Have a nice trip
