Oh dear. Perhaps I'd better just say it isn't my taste. Tam Lin suits them perfectly though ...

There's a great version of this tune played on an early Furey Brother's album by Davey Arthur on banjo. In the credits they call it ( wait for it! ) Davey Arthur's (davy?).

The tune is called "las Vegas in the Hills of Donegal" by a band called "Goats don't shave". It gets a lot of airplay on the country and western radio stations lile Dublins Country mix.

try google "Goats don't shave" for more info if you have to.

Re: Tune In Las Vegas In The Hills of Donegal

Thanks southpaw, but Las Vegas In The Hills of Donegal is the name of the song. The tune I was referring to was Tam Lin/The Glasgow Reel. I did try googling it, but I couldn't find the name of the tune, just lyrics for the song.

Re: Tune In Las Vegas In The Hills of Donegal

yeah there's two versions of that, one's a song, the other's a tune. people generally like the tune version, since it has such a unique progression, but you have to be careful where you hear it. The Session has a semi-decent transcription, but I'd recommend trying to find a better one. if you get the chance, try playing it in octaves with a friend, sounds terrific.

I looked on The Session and couldn't find it. Do you have the link?
