Thank you very much. This looks great. !! I went looking for directions as to how it actually works and haven't been very successful. Any further gems of imformation? Either way, thank you.
That's why I hardly use the "tunebook" here. You can get much nicer results out of the Navigator, and you have a lot more control.
It's just a pity it isn't as good at searching and at rhythm specifications as AbcMus
Can anyone help with this-
1. How does one get the ABCs into navigator? I presume you copy tune(ABC) and then dropo it into Navigator. But how and where?
2. Is changing groups of tunes done as above
3. How do you segregate jigs from reels for example.
So if I were to take for example a dozen tunes in ABC from Henry Norbeck, copy and then do I paste into Navigator and how are the reels separated from jigs???
I've used ABC2WIN. Use text editor to copy paste right into the program, you can paste multiple tunes in one file with titles and all other info....works for me! There is a small fee to get the program, but I'm very pleased with it and it's simple and straightforward to use.
If you take a gander at the abc, there is a "header" section on each one. (X: for the tune number, T: for the name, K: for the key and so on.) This is what separates one tune from another. If you have one big text file for your tunes, I mean a file.txt, you can immediately convert it into a file suitable for Navigator by changing the extension to file.abc. Over on Yahoo's French ITM group, they have an ABC file which is 4 Mb. Too much for me. I prefer mine organised in small lumps.
And if you have a scout around the links section of this site, there is a link to an ABC tutorial page.
IB, I think you must have hit an unlucky moment - both the lesession and the walshaw links work for me.
ABC software is not ferociously difficult, but it is worth, if you have Navigator (for instance) taking an hour or two to play around with it and find out how to do things.
ABCs to dots
ABCs to dots
Is there a way around changing ABCs to dots in bulk as opposed to one at a time?
thanks

Re: ABCs to dots
ABCNavigator2 (Windoze) lets you load all your ABCs in (in one file or several), select all, some, sets or by class (eg Jigs) and print them all.

Re: ABCs to dots
It also lets you play with the spacing and borders to lay out sheets of tunes more neatly - highly recommended!

Re: ABCs to dots
A hasty check indicates that the ABC tutorial page has evaporated. I have a copy of the text it contained. If anyone wants it, pm me.
