Are there any Sessions in the area Bristol next week?
Are there any Sessions in the area Bristol next week?
I have been looking through the sessions for the Bristol (UK) area and it’s looking a bit confusing with sessions alternating between a few pubs.
I am in Bristol for the most of next week. Can anyone give me details and the lowdown on any Irish/Scottish sessions that are happening next week? I would also be interested if there any good Folk clubs too.
Re: Are there any Sessions in the area Bristol next week?
Sessions I know of are;
Monday 9th - The Lion, Clifton Wood (check with pub, as it's a bank holiday - 0117 9268492)
Tuesday 10th - Merchants Arms, Hotwells
Tuesday 10th - Scotchman and his Pack, St Michael's Hill (very small room)
Friday 13th - Plume of Feathers, Hotwells

Thank you very much wurzel
I had homed in on the “Plume of Feathers” but not 100% sure when I'm returning. I shall most likely stay until the weekend now.
Do you know if all the sessions are rigid in what is played or are they all fairly easy going and friendly?
I can’t get to the link at the moment because I am at work and the server blocks it, but
I shall look when I get home tonight..
Very Helpful
Thanks again

Re: Are there any Sessions in the area Bristol next week?
I'm in Belgium until Wednesday11th, but I can tell you that they're all friendly sessions. The Lion is a little more "broad church" than the others as regards the music; the message I got from the leader last Monday was that there would be a session on Easter Monday. The Merchant's Arms (a small room) is an English session, and the Scotchman, Plume of Feathers, and the Barley Mow I'd say are at least 90% Irish.

I have not been able to get to any sessions so far this week, but will definitely be at the Plume of Feathers tomorrow night.
As I have decided to stay in Bristol until Sunday
Thanks again for info. What time does it kick off?
