There was a jig played in the session last night and I am trying to find it.
It was in G and I was told it was a traditional Irish tune. The title is something like "The Well at the top of the Town" or ".... at the head of the Town" or something like that. It definately had the word Town in it :-S
Sorry - If I could I would have. I have no recording and only heard it the once. I will find out more next time I go to the session and maybe try to get a recording of the tune. Maybe he got the name wrong or made it up. I don't know. Was quite a nice tune though. It is just I thought it was one I would be able to learn on the whistle with my limited capabilities.
No I'm serious. Sometimes ,in a noisy pub session, its easy to mishear tune names. And if they didn't really know the proper name it can turn into a game of chinese whispers. Please don't be offended. I wasn't taking the p***!! just trying to help.

Anyway I think the tune was a double jig (6/8). It had a similar pattern or feel to tunes like Willie Coleman's - but it wasn't Willie Coleman's. I don't know. Doesn't really matter anyway.
