will be going on holiday to the Isle of Skye between the 25th may till the 30 or 31st. Anyone can tell me what can be happening there during that period (festivals, sessions, concerts, musicians to meet...)?
Thought you were looking lonely so joined the The Session to send an answer. I'm sure you know Skye is in Scotland which might explain the lack of response from a (mainly) Irish site! There is a Festival in Skye 25th-26th May http://www.skyemusicfestival.co.uk/ . For a Scottish equivalent to The Session - if such a thing is possible - have a look at www.footstompin.com/home . There is a thread on the Skye Music Festival in its forum right now.
Failte gu Alba!
There are sessions in Portree (The Isles) on a Wednesday, Dunvegan (The Cellar Bar) on a Thursday and Edinbane Hotel on Sunday afternoons. Visiting musicians are made welcome at all three with Dunvegan and Portree generally advanced standard though all welcome and Edinbane probably intermediate.
Gigs in many pubs at weekends and concerts from top folkies in the Aros Centre in Portree regurarly

Hope that's of some help
Thanks a lot for the info...
I of course know Skye's in Scotland... I was just thinking I might get some other information through the Sesh than the ones on the internet sites... Scotland being not far - geographically and musically - from Ireland, and the tunes submitted here aren't all irish (just take a few strathspeys, and tunes like smeceno horo...). Just to say I went to Glasgow and Edimburgh last year and had wonderful session (Ben Nevis Pub in Glasgow, and Sandy Bell's in Edinburgh).
I hope to be able to play a lot in Skye : will be staying in Portree for the festival anyway !
Thanks again, that was real nice of you 2 to answer me !
Happy music
