I've just bought an old box with the brand name "soprani" not paolo soprani. It is red just like a paolo withe 23 trebles but has no couplers. It does not have a paolo soprani badge. Its quite old, the original case with it is in very poor condition and would appear to be at least 50 years old. needs a bit of tlc but will make a nice box .Haven't opened it up yet to see what's inside but it has a nice sound in b/c. Anyone any idea of what I might have?

In Italy, near Castelfidardo or Recanati, around 1950-1960 there was many accordion makers that used the same cabinet but with different voices and mechanics.
An example: Giustozzi maked 30 years ago an accordion similar to Soprani but the badge was Giustozzi Accordion. If the badge was missed probably someone can confuse the Giustozzi to Soprani.
Try to open and wach the reedblocks, probably there is some information. Or if you want you can send me a photos.
There is a nameplate on it that says "Soprani" . Its a one piece nameplate in white with the lettering in black. The air valve is a slide type as opposed to the button type. I'll open it up and see whats inside.
I play left handed so I'm getting an old pal to play it later to see what it really sounds like.
Also, Giampari Giustozzi has responded to a number of my emails. His address is on the Giustozzi website. If you send his some pix he may be able to shed some light on that.

Soprani boxes retailed at about two thirds of the price of a Paolo Soprani.
