There's a tune in frank custy's green book ( book no.2), called "the newport lass", and it's a reel. Frank is from toonagh in co.clare. i was just wondering does anyone know the name that this tune is more commonly known as? We have it in the key of G.thanks..

but it's a well-known jig. Could you have had one of those things where the fingers do their own thing and type "reel" when you meant "jig"
thanks, no the tune written down in frank's book is most definitly a reel! though there is a jig by the same name too. Most likely frank's name for it is incorrect, so i wrote out the tune for ye below, where the capital letters represent ordinary letters, and the little letters represent the higher octave. And the tune is in the key of G, so the c is c natural

I learned this tune from a Chris Norman recording some years back. He called it Mulhaire's reel.
