I would like to ask someone who lives near luthier Joe Foley in Ireland, to find out what instruments Joe has available for sale now (new or used), and send me pictures and purchase details of those.
Please email me directly if you would help me with this?
Maybe he just doesn't want one. It only takes time away from making the instruments.
Worse - I know a professional musician who hasen't got one. How does she cope ? But she does have a website.
I have made a website for him, but he hasn't a computer, hasn't given me any info. He's an awful man.
I'll get on his case, there should be one up there,
I've designed, coded and taken all the pix. .... I just need content.
Steve... what do you want... you might commision ED Foley in NJ, he makes magnificent guitars, cannons, even the teeny ones. He could likely make anything else too. Write me off group if you want his info...if you can't find anything by the other Foley.
There's a Mandola here http://www.buyandsell.ie/browse.php?m=23&s=23&g=00313&o=50 I guess Joe has enough work without a website so you could try ringing him.
353 0 21 373270 that's the number on the Mandolin Cafe website. ...................although it does'nt look right to me, I think it should have a 1 instead of the first zero.
I haven't found the instrument yet, so the search continues.
Iris, I've heard a couple of Ed Foley's instruments, and they are very, very nice! A bit different, tho, I think, from Joe's.. .<GGG>
Great news Hugo Chavez (I've heard that name somewhere before... hmmmmm.... <GG>), but I don't think you should wait for "content"... There are LOADs of websites up that seriously lack content, and I, for one, would be delighted just to be able to see pictures of lots of Joe Foley's instruments.
One time, in Hollywood, Wicklow, we were in Tutty's and Tony Davoren was there. He had just gotten a new zouk from Joe, made to his own custom. Because Tony is a Wicklow man, it had this beautiful pale green Wicklow sycamore in the trim. I wasn't at all familiar with zouks then, but Tony put it in my hands and played guitar and mandolin for over an hour so I could learn about it. What a generous gift that was!
So if there's a pic of that one in your collection, I'd love to see it again! To paraphrase, 'Damn the content, full speed ahead!' <GG>
Again, thanks to all, all the best and a happy and musical St. Patrick's Day to one and all.
be careful because alot of people get adjustment done to the action of the joe foley instruments . check it out before buying one second hand. that mandola is a great price............backer thats a cork no. put a 4 before the 3...................0 21 4373270 .Thats jim o halloran I'd say...........
Ciaran, I think it's inadvisable to put your email address on a public forum - even this one. Ask Jeremy if it can be removed from your post. I suggest it is safer to give your email address only to persons whom you know, and then only via this website's internal email system, which is for members only.

Re: Joe Foley instruments
Foley instruments are awesome! Good choice. Typically Irish, though; he has no website. Aaargh!
