I recently went to see Moving Hearts in Dublin and was amazed by their concert. The music, sound and lights etc were all amazing.
Has anyone been toi see any other great concerts lately?
In Ireland or maybe further a field?
Its interesting to see what other concerts at the moment might be worth going to see? (P.s. I much prefer more modern music rather than the real trad stuff at cooncerts).
Seen Liz and John just this season, but what struck me as the fullest duo sound was fiddle and accordion - even moreso than Frankie and Sean Gavin - was Seamus and Damien Connelly. Amazing stuff.
I saw Altan in Chicago last Friday, and they were brilliant all the way around. I've been listening to their albums for years, but had never seen them. The interplay between the fiddlers was stunning, Dermot Byrne's accordion was jaw-dropping, and Daithi Sproule's guitar and Ciaran Curran's bouzouki drove the tunes. Their jokes were great, too! Highly recommended.
It was indeed a good show. First time I've been to a performance of this kind. (I don't get out much.) Found out about it at the absolute last minute by accident, had a big hassle getting there and had to skid early ... but it was worth it.
Taking Moving Hearts as your reference point, I'd recommend Kila, fingers.
For dynamics, excitement, passion, energy, they're hard to beat, if you prefer "modern" takes on folk music.

Re: Great group Performances
Just saw Liz Carrol and John Doyle here in the US. I know they are only two people, but there was a whole group's worth of music going on.
