Find and post sessions from your area.

I just read a post in the sessions area from someone who has tried unsuccessfully to find sessions in Nashville. There weren't any posted on our session site. I did a few searches and found a couple, and I passed along the names of people who might be "in the know" for the area...a CCE chairman, and a VERY involved musician in eastern TN.

It's my experience in recent weeks that if you dig hard enough, you can find sessions in your area. You just have to be inventive.

I searched using all sorts of terms for different types of groups that might have irish musicians involved: caledonian, scotish, scottish, St. Andrews societies, scottish trad music, irish trad music, irish flute, tin whistle, trad irish music, Louisiana Irish music, Louisiana Irish Pubs, Louisiana Breweries, Bars, Dance Halls, Pipe and Drum Corps, Pipe and Drum Band, Pipe Band, various musicians I found from Louisiana, etc. I then emailed people I found in my searches in other towns and countries...and hit paydirt. Irish trad musos are all connected somehow, and when you find one, you can usually follow a trail to find some in your own area.

So be persistent...and PLEASE post what you find in case someone else is looking or has given up looking. That's how we find each other. If you haven't attended or confirmed the sessions by contacting someone, include that in the post so folks know to call or email the place before they go. And when you attend, please make a follow-up telling us about the session.

Thanks!

I'll post the ones I found in Nashville when I have more time...I'm off to oversea my youngest with painting his Pinewood Derby car for a Boy Scout race in the morning..

Just thinking, Pinewood Derby is a good name for a tune.

Re: Find and post sessions from your area.

It's come to my attention in side discussions and emails that sessions exist which don't appear on our sessions lists. Please take a moment to check the sessions section for sessions you know of. If they aren't on thesession.org, please add them. Some sessions need updated information as well. Many sessions are attended, but have no comments posted. Please post your comments about the sessions you attend so we know what to expect. Thanks to you all for putting the word out!
