I am planning a trip to Eire during Easter time. I'd appreciate any information about ITM scene considering that time. Eg. are all session closed at Easter? Are even all the pubs closed? Are threre any ITM events (especially on Dublin - Sligo axis)
I was in Ireland last Easter. Pubs are closed on Good Friday, but Thursday night is a hot night as patrons flock to get ready for the Friday drought. We found the week to be quiet, with not many sessions and they were few and far between. We had no trouble with restaurants, though...and the groceries still sell wine and beer on Good Friday--go figure.

Re: Easter in Ireland
When I went in 1978 the pubs (Galway city) were shut on Good Friday. I don't know the situation regarding this today.

Plenty happening on the Saturday and Sunday, though.

Re: Easter in Ireland
The pubs are closed in the Republic on Good Friday but they are open in the North. Maybe somebody from up there could advise of some good sessions?

The Roscommon Fleadh Cheoil (Easter Sunday & Monday) may be worth checking out as it falls on your Dublin / Sligo axis - see http://comhaltas.ie/events/detail/roscommon_fleadh_2007/

Re: Easter in Ireland
Thank you very much for the Roscommon tip. I'll certainly check it out! I am very relieved that the Good Friday seems to be only quiet day.

Re: Easter in Ireland
Don't expect a drink on good friday
oh - and try book a restaurant too - a lot of these close coz they make all the profits on the booze and can't sell it.
