I heard that Moving Hearts sold out 5 shows in Vicar Street last week. I have read rave reviews and they even commented on how good it was on the 9 oclock Irish tv news!
Was anyone at the gigs?
They were one of my favourite bands of all time!
a few friends seen them in donegal recently and said it was brillant. last time i saw them was mid 80's open air in ballyhoran , i remember donal lunny's daugher dancing about the stage, a performer even as a kid.
I saw them loads, all over, I was a bit of a fan. First time I saw them was about 1980 in the Baggot Inn, Dublin. One of my faves though was mid 80's at Glastonberry. They played Saturday afternoon in glorious sunshine, after the chieftans.
Yes entirely instrumental. I was there Friday, the final night. Donal Lunny, Kieth Donald, Eoghan O'Neill, Davy Spillane, Anton Drennan, Kevin Glackin, Matt Kelleghan, Noel Eccles, and (shame on me) the keyboard player's name escapes me. A mighty night, recorded for tv/dvd so it should be available to see pretty soon.
Check this one - http://www.taramusic.com/news/3014reunion.htm, though all the gigs have now taken place. According to the site "Their performance will celebrate their ground breaking and genre defying album ‘The Storm’."
According to the Tara site the lineup for said gigs consisted of Dónal Lunny, Davy Spillane, Eoghan O'Neill, Keith Donald, Matt Kellaghan, Noel Eccles, Anto Drennan and Graham Henderson.
So that's basically the original lineup with Matt Kellaghan who took over the drums from Brian Calnan after the eponymous debut album but with the notable exceptions of Christy Moore and Declan Sinnott. I know Noel Eccles did play percussion at several MH gigs, so presumably Anto was brought in to replace Declan on guitar and Graham (from Dónal's Coolfin band) provided additional keyboards.

According to this site which doesn't do very much except offer a link to buy tickets
http://www.movinghearts.ie/
the band are performing "The Storm". So, I'm assuming that it's the mid to late eighties line up which was entirely instrumental?

Re: "Moving Hearts" reunited
I'm pretty sure Declan Masterson played on The Storm too.

A mighty job on The Storm done also by piper Declan Masterson. Pity not to have seen him on stage last week.
