Looking for Luthier in US

Looking for Luthier in US

I've had my mom's old violin since she died, but I've never been able to play it because it has a warped neck and loose fingerboard.

It's about time I got it fixed, but there are no professional luthiers in my area that I can find so I'll have to ship it off. I'm in Little Rock AR and would prefer to ship it as close to my area as possible.

I'm sure there are people here who have had their fiddles fixed or are luthiers themselves; any recommendations would be much appreciated.

I'm sure you could probably find some place closer, but I've always taken my fiddle to the Luthier Shop in Aubrey, Texas, and they do a great job.

Hope that helps!

Why not contact the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra at http://www.arkansassymphony.org/
and ask the violinists who they go to? That would be close to you, and would show you who is to be trusted with valuable instruments.

Here, in the Boston area, there are dozens of competent luthiers who can do a complete restoration of your Mom's violin. I did the same thing with my grandfather's violin, and after $400 I not only have a wonderful instrument but a living memento of my grandfather. Good luck to you, and may your Mom's memory live on for years in the music you will play.

That's a great idea Greg, if anyone knows where to go around here it's the ASO guys. I don't know why I didn't think of that; they're right here in the city and I used to go to their concerts all the time.
