Does anyone know of any trad music festivals/events in the Cork area (which means anything in county Cork) in July/August?? My husband and i are planning for a trip to Cork and it would be cool if there were some nice music events, more than the usual sessions.
Try Clonakilty (about 50km west of Cork City). We stayed there last August for a fortnight, using it as a base for touring. In the summer it has several good sessions every week, and at these you should be able to find out about other musical events in the area.
Make sure you get out to the Skibbereen-Baltimore-Ballydehob-Bantry region.
There may be a celebration of Francis O'Neill towards the end of August, at or near Tralibane.
Have fun!

Re: Trad festivals in Cork
If you can stretch it to the first few days of Sept, the 'Cork folk festival' will be on.
