Re: Mulcahys

sounds similarily like the hornpipe on track 11 of Brian Rooney's album Leitrim-London where he just calls it Cronin's.

Re: Mulcahys

And check out this by one of the Mulcahey girls on the harp. I never thought jigs could sound so great on a harp!

Can anyone type the names of the jigs? She says them at the beginning of the video but my English listening is poor.

Re: Mulcahys

The first hp is O'Mahoneys. I learned it from Billy McComiskey, and he plays it after Nehly's Fiddle (a set he probably got from Denis Doody's Kerry Music CD).

Re: Mulcahys

Yes, that's the one. I learned it from Billy in G though, and the Mulchays are also playing it in G. I like the setting in D as well -- good for cranns on the pipes.

Re: Mulcahys

The tune before the Lark in the Strand is called Bimid ag Ol or Bimis ag Ol.
