Silly Wizard in Glasgow

Silly Wizard in Glasgow

Did anyone manage to make it to this?

I'd love to hear how it went! (now if only they'll come across the Atlantic...)

Re: Silly Wizard in Glasgow

Ah, now that's maybe why I couldn't get Kenny on the phone last night.

Re: Silly Wizard in Glasgow

Silly Wizard played on for several years after Johnny left. They did try to replace him, and there are some very good stories about those who were "interviewed", but in the end nobody came up to scratch, so they carried on without a fiddle player. Johnny would often join up with them for the odd gig when they toured the States.
I haven't heard yet how it went. I didn't go, because it's a long way to Glasgow just to hear 2 songs, which I was told was about all they were doing.
There may well be a review in the Scottish papers tomorrow.
Who knows ? They might do a "Planxty".

Re: Silly Wizard in Glasgow

Silly Wizard without Johnny does seem a bit like the Beatles without John, or Queen without Freddie, or Planxty without Andy or Donal.
I guess it depends on what elements the listener is drawn to the band for -- I personally thought the banter and patter between the members was half the show when I'd go and see Wizard, so perhaps there's the rub for many of their other fans as well.
